Okay, so we’ve decided that we’re happy with the theme. For the site and for the reception. 

As you can see, we’re going for a WWII era them, replete with war paraphernalia and 40’s glam. What could scream more class and fun than a throwback party to an era when men still wore hats and ladies smoked their cigarettes on sticks? We couldn’t think of anything, so in the spirit of film noir, Bogart, and Bacall, we’re kicking this reception old school…in the form of a mock USO party. 

Here are some Ideas that we’re toying with:

• Axis and Allies themed foods (Axis gets just desserts…get it? Har har, thanks mom)
• Propaganda posters, of the non offensive variety…expect to see these show up in places other than the website!
• Live jazz
• Subtly colored decor corresponding to the Allied colors…which was red white and blue in (almost) every case, but don’t worry, we’re not turning the place into the local VFW.
• Candy cigarettes

We’ll let you know more ideas as we have them. Maybe even post pictures. And there will certainly be an extensive section on “Dress to Kill,” regarding our attire advice for guests. A theme is only as good as the guests, after all, and we are wholeheartedly encouraging everyone (if not forcing some of our friends) to participate!
